There’s something lovely about donning a frothy, lacy nightie or slipping into a silky slip to lounge around and read in. If Jamie Fraser or Mr. Darcy happened to show up as we reclined on our chaise lounge, reading our latest bodice ripper, we would certainly be amenable … but sometimes it’s just about us feeling cute and setting the stage for a good read at home. But, Meghan and Nicole, why on earth would I put on lingerie just to read a romance novel? you might ask. And to that, dearies, we say: don’t knock it until you’ve tried it.
On Season 1 Episode 2 of our podcast, Meghan talks about her the female lead in her novel, Younger Sister, wears “costumes” for her husband. The author, Kathleen Norris, was talking about lingerie and we thought that was a sweet and lovely idea. And it led to Meghan and I talking about the movie Eat, Pray, Love and how Julia Robert’s character buys herself a beautiful Italian lingerie piece to wear just for herself as she reads the paper and enjoys a leisurely breakfast. Meghan and I both love this lace trimmed, v-neck babydoll in black. The empire waist make it flattering for a variety of body types and we love that there’s no underwire to dig into your ribcage. A little more sultry in black, we feel the Serina babydoll would pair well with a good mystery romance or perhaps one from the vampire genre.
2. BRITTANY CROSS LACE MINI SLIP
This silky, lace-trimmed slip in soft pink is Meghan’s choice. It features criss-crossing straps to keep them from falling down and the lace-up back detail of the Brittany reminds us of a corset … which, of course, makes us think historical romance novel.

3. QUEEN FLORAL EMBROIDERED TRIANGLE THIN LINGERIE SET
Also one of Meghan’s picks, is this romantic bra and thong set with flower embroidered lace. There’s no pesky underwire (what can we say, COVID times changed us on the bra front) and the bra is see-through. We imagine the Queen set would fit well with a modern romance novel.

4. REBECCA FLORAL EMBROIDERED LINGERIE SET
If you prefer a little padding in a bra, there’s also this Rebecca embroidered floral set on Meghan’s list. It’s paired with a “cheeky” panty and the lovely blue floral embroidery is to die for. This set feels very Bridgerton to us.

The Analisa corset has both Meg and Nicole swooning. This sexy lace corset is giving us Victorian era vibes and Nicole thinks it could be worn out on a date night, peaking out from under a fitted velvet blazer.
