Season Two of Romance on the Rocks is officially here and before we dive headfirst into new reads, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on the romance novels that shaped our first season and tease what’s ahead. Think of this as a reset button with a splash of spice.
Last year gave us big feelings, unexpected favorites and a few books that reminded us exactly what doesn’t work for us as readers. Every title helped refine our taste and sharpen what we’re excited to explore next.
The Romance Books That Set the Bar
Season One delivered some standout reads that stuck with us long after the last page. We fell hard for strong character development, believable emotional arcs and stories that understood romance is more than just attraction.
We also read a few books that missed the mark and that mattered just as much. Those reads helped us define what we’re looking for now: authentic connection, intentional storytelling and chemistry that actually earns its payoff.
Expanding Our Romance Reading Horizons
For Season Two, we’re pushing ourselves out of our comfort zones. We want romance that surprises us, challenges us and maybe makes us laugh at how bold it is.
That means exploring new subgenres, modern love stories and, yes, the occasional fairy slut romance moment. Romance doesn’t live in one box and neither do we.
Food, Feelings and Why It Matters
One theme we’re especially excited to lean into is food in romance novels. Shared meals, meaningful drinks and kitchen moments show up again and again in love stories and we love how they deepen intimacy and character connection.
Paying attention to these details adds another layer to how we experience the books and how we talk about romance as a whole.
What We’re Looking Forward To
Looking ahead, Season Two is about intentional reading and thoughtful reviews. We’re excited to explore holiday romances, themed reads and books that blend romance with bigger conversations without losing the heart of the love story.
