The Official Blurb
“When Cassandra Camberwell returns to her hometown of Hollow Brook to clear out her late grandmother’s ramshackle old house, the last thing she expects is Seth Brubaker on her doorstep. Her former best friend was responsible for the worst moment of her high school life, and she can’t imagine he wants to do anything but torment her all over again.
Until she unearths the real reason this annoyingly gorgeous beast of a man keeps hanging around: he’s an actual werewolf, who’s certain she’s the witch that will ease his suffering. But Cassie just isn’t sure if she can trust him again. So Seth offers a pact: he’ll teach her all about her undiscovered magic, and she will brew the potions he needs. No feelings, no funny business, just a witch and a werewolf striking a deal.
Totally doable. Until they get hit with a do-or-die mating bond. And now the heat is rising, in between fights with formers bullies and encounters with talking raccoons. They just have to not give in. Unless giving in just might be the very thing they never knew they always wanted..”

How to Help a Hungry Werewolf by Charlotte Stein — A Witchy, Wolfy Slow Burn Full of Heart & Heat
Friends to Enemies to Friends to Lovers … with witches, werewolves and talking raccoons – oh my!
The Setup
Cassandra “Cassie” Camberwell has just inherited her grandmother’s old house. It’s a place stuffed with clutter, memories and the occasional creepy noise. She’s supposed to clean it out and sell it. But as she starts digging through the past, she finds more than dusty heirlooms. There’s something magical hiding under all that cobwebbed nostalgia … and something furry, too.
Enter Seth Brubaker. Seth is her childhood best friend turned high school enemy, who she catches breaking into her grandmother’s basement one night. Turns out, Seth is a werewolf. Yep. A real one. And Cassie’s late grandmother used to help him with potions to manage his transformations.
Cassie soon discovers that magic runs deeper in her blood than she realized. She’s not just a “half witch” like her grandmother. She’s the real deal. Cue chaos, curses and an adorable talking raccoon.
Old Wounds, New Magic
Cassie and Seth’s relationship is complicated (to put it lightly). In high school, Seth humiliated her during the senior talent show, calling her a “fat ass” in front of everyone. It destroyed their friendship. Now, years later, he’s full of regret — and desperate for her help.
As Cassie learns to wield her magic, Seth becomes her eager teacher in all things supernatural. Slowly but surely, they start to rebuild trust. And that old spark? Oh, it’s still burning … hotter than ever.
Things I Loved
✨ The Creature Feature Combo: I’m a sucker for both witches and werewolves, so this book hit all my paranormal sweet spots. It gave me big Underworld and “Team Jacob” (Twilight) energy — two vibes I will never say no to.
✨ Witchy Humor: The “symptoms of being a witch” cracked me up:
“Excessive night sweats. Urge to wear hats massively increased. Chances of cats adopting you very high. People stop liking you. People like you to a disturbing degree. You may only want to eat potatoes.”
How to Help a Hungry Werewolf by Charlotte Stein
Call me a witch then!
✨ Magical Mayhem: A sentient microwave and a raccoon familiar? Charlotte Stein’s imagination is delightfully unhinged in the best way.
✨ The Heat: It’s a slow burn but, once it ignites …. wow. 🔥 Habanero-level spice with open-door scenes that feel both emotional and deliciously steamy.
Challenges
The pacing in the first half dragged for me. Cassie’s inner monologue tends to loop a bit, which slowed my reading momentum. I actually switched to Audible halfway through and listened while driving and doing chores. It was a game-changer. Once I got back into the rhythm, I found myself fully invested again.
Final Thoughts
If you love witchy, werewolfy slow burns with humor, heart and a generous helping of heat, How to Help a Hungry Werewolf is a perfect pick. It’s a story about second chances, magic, and embracing your power— whether it’s mystical or emotional.
