Sun-Kissed Nemesis by Willow Winters | Book Review
Sometimes all I need is a quick beach read.
After tackling several longer books lately, Sun-Kissed Nemesis — a novella by Willow Winters — was exactly what I needed. It’s a short contemporary romance packed with emotion, a little spice and plenty of beach vibes. I finished it in one morning and honestly wished I had another Willow Winters book waiting for me when I turned the final page.

Main Characters
Parker
Parker owns a small condo building and art shop in a beachside tourist town. He’s also Luna’s landlord.
Luna
Luna rents one of Parker’s condos for the summer while trying to navigate the heartbreaking recent loss of her mother. She chose the area because she and her mom spent summers there together and hopes familiar surroundings might bring a little comfort.
Plot
Luna invites a few friends to her rental for a night of fun, hoping a party might temporarily distract her from her grief. It doesn’t.
What it does accomplish is keeping Parker awake all night.
The next day, Parker politely asks if she’d give him a heads-up before her next gathering so he can make plans to stay somewhere else. He’s friendly, joking and clearly doesn’t want to be “that guy.”
Luna, however, completely loses it.
She reminds him the lease doesn’t prohibit parties, argues he should’ve simply texted or stopped by, and bursts into tears. Honestly, she’s pretty unreasonable. But it’s also obvious her reaction has very little to do with Parker.
Her mother’s death is still incredibly fresh, she’s in therapy, and every little inconvenience seems to send her emotions spiraling.
Realizing she overreacted, Luna visits Parker’s art shop to apologize. While she’s there, she discovers a painting that stops her in her tracks. Parker once painted a portrait of her mother after seeing her on the beach years earlier.
I’ll leave the story there because this is a novella and I don’t want to spoil what happens next.
Spice Level
🌶️🌶️🌶️ Jalapeño — sweet, short and a little spicy
Things I Loved
I loved the balance of emotion and spice.
This was such a delightful, quick read, which I honestly really needed.
I also love a beach story. I’m a mermaid trapped on land and anything involving the ocean immediately earns bonus points from me.
The characters felt realistic, and their conversations flowed naturally. Nothing about the dialogue felt forced.
I also have to mention the physical book itself. The sprayed edges, pink pages and artistic design made it a beautiful addition to my bookshelf. (I scored my pink special edition on LoveLit Cruise 2026.)
Challenges
I really only had one small challenge.
I literally turned a page and felt like things escalated very quickly. I actually flipped back to make sure I hadn’t accidentally skipped something.
I mean … it’s a novella. Things are naturally going to move faster than they would in a full-length novel.
Still, I would’ve liked just a little more build-up before the relationship shifted into high gear.
Then again … regular podcast listeners know I love my spice, so I wasn’t exactly mad about it.
Final Thoughts
I wanted to give this book five stars on Goodreads, but I couldn’t find it listed there. I’m wondering if it’s because it’s a novella.
Either way, my rating doesn’t change.

This is a perfect beach, poolside or vacation read.
It’s emotional without becoming heavy, romantic without dragging on, and short enough to finish in a single relaxing morning.
I’d absolutely read more from Willow Winters.
