Here at Romance on the Rocks Podcast, we are two bookish biddies who imbibe and share their love of romance novels. We don’t mind whipping up an adult beverage at home, but there’s definitely something to be said for the convenience of having cocktails delivered right to our door. In this post, we take a look at seven cocktail subscription boxes. Some have alcohol, some don’t, and some are specifically focused on mocktails. We’ve curated a list that includes budget-friendly options as well as high end choices. Here’s the list.
7 Cocktail Subscription Boxes for Bookish Biddies
Please Note: Some subscription boxes may not be available to be shipped to your country or state depending on existing laws. Prices mentioned are at the time of publishing this article and may not include shipping, taxes or other fees. Please drink responsibly and never drink and drive.
1. Shaker & Spoon Cocktail Club by Shaker & Spoon
Shaker & Spoon Cocktail Club
$49.92/box
Shaker & Spoon Cocktail Club offers a monthly cocktail box delivering original craft cocktail recipes. Each month you’ll get three unique recipes by top bartenders plus the ingredients you need to make them. You’ll be able to make 12 drinks (four from each recipe … or, in Wisconsin, 3). Ingredients included in the boxes are syrups, bitters, aromatics and garnishes. However, the boxes do NOT include the actual alcohol. This is great if you’re in a state that doesn’t allow alcohol to be shipped directly to your state or country or if you’ve got your tried and true favorite liquors already stocked in your home bar. That said, it can also be annoying if you truly want everything you need in one box and have to run out and go buy vodka or whatever. On the plus side, the mix masters at Shaker & Spoon to concentrate each monthly box around a certain type of liquor so you can pre-plan and you can skip any boxes that aren’t tripping your trigger. (Maybe you have bad gin memories from your divorce years. I know I do.) Taste new flavors & combinations, and look at your liquor cabinet in a whole new way. You can subscribe here.
2. Tipsy Pixie Box
$41.99-$42.99/month/box (depending on the subscription options you choose)
Tipsy Pixie is a monthly subscription box for ladies who love Happy Hour at home with a fun, and truly fashionable twist! Each box is expertly curated so you can skip the bar crowds and that annoying old guy sitting on his bar stool telling you you’d be cuter if you smiled more. Each month you’ll receive a super-soft, sassy t-shirt; matching fashion accessory; bar tool; glassware or drink accessory; and perfectly paired cocktail & appetizer recipe cards. So not only will you stay on trend and enjoy some cocktails but you did it without have to people. This makes for a great happy hour at home, a great end to a busy day (go ahead, ditch the bra and put on your pj pants), or even a fun girls night in. Yes, you’ll get cocktail mixers and garnishes. No, you won’t receive the actual alcohol you’ll need. So you’ll either need to keep your home bar stocked or make sure to procure what you need before you start your cocktail hour. Another plus is that Tipsy Pixie donates a portion of their profits to Hope Women’s Center, whose mission is to encourage, engage and equip women and teen girls facing any difficult life situation. They’re also a family-owned and operated small business who hand selects the goodies in your box. You can order your own Tipsy Pixie box here.
3. Homemade Cocktail Mixers Box from High Desert Botanicals
$37.50-$45/month/box (depending on the subscription options you choose)
With High Desert Botanical’s Homemade Cocktail Mixers Box, you can make delicious cocktail mixers at home with whole, fresh ingredients. Their homemade mixers are free from artificial colors and flavors and many can be made with alternative sweeteners such as stevia or honey. Because their boxes do not include alcohol, they can be shipped internationally. What their kits do include is most of the specialized ingredients you will need to make their kitchen-test cocktail recipes. You may need to hit your pantry or store though for things like sugar and fresh fruits and you’ll definitely need your own vodka and booze. If you don’t mind doing that and you like a more natural ingredient-based cocktail, you can subscribe here.
4. Monthly Mocktail Box by We Are Raising the Bar
$60-$70/month/box (depending on the subscription options you choose)
Raising the Bar has been making big waves with their mocktail boxes. So if you do prefer to drink sans alcohol but don’t want to sacrifice the flavor, their Monthly Mocktail Box is just the ticket. They are definitely on the pricier end for a cocktail subscription box but their kits and ingredients are high-end and there’s a reason they are redefining happy hour with their offerings. Maybe you’re pregnant or just sober curious but whatever your reason for going alcohol-free, this is one of my favorite picks for zero-proof cocktails. (I’m also a fan of Seedlip for zero-proof spirits which you can check out here.) Each Raising the Bar box includes zero-proof cocktail ingredients to craft three unique cocktail recipes and up to 12 servings (or, in Wisconsin, 4). There’s 4-8 products in every box along with detailed instructions to help you hone your mixology game plus bar tools, seasonal garnishes, and/or accessories to elevate your cocktail experience. Start subscribing here.
5. Premium Alcohol Cocktail Kit Subscription by Cocktail-Courier
$40.25-$75/month/box (depending on the subscription options you choose)
Whether you want the alcohol in the box or you want non-alcohol options, Cocktail-Courier has subscription options for both. They’ve got lots of customization options to help you mix up stunning, high-end drinks. (As bookish biddies who imbibe, we greatly appreciate that we can get the alcohol directly in the box with their Premium Alcohol Cocktail Kit.) They deliver cocktail experiences that include everything you need to shake or stir professional quality cocktails right at home. As busy ladies, we have to again reiterate that we love that we don’t have to go hunting for recipes or ingredients. Each kit makes 6-8 cocktails (or, in Wisconsin, 2-4 – we’re just being real, people) with high quality spirits, fresh citrus and seasonal ingredients. Choose your cocktail subscription box here.
6. Monthly Craft Cocktail Membership by SaloonBox
$34-$67.99/month/box (depending on the subscription options you choose)
If craft cocktails are your jam, then the Monthly Craft Cocktail Membership from SaloonBox may be for you. Each kit includes two unique recipes, each serving two (or, in Wisconsin, 1). They do offer variable subscription length options and you can choose from alcohol included or alcohol-free. Spirits, ingredients and recipe cards included in the alcohol included cocktail kits. Bonus: shipping is included with their subscription which isn’t always the case for some cocktail subscription boxes. You can sign up for a subscription here.
7. Crafted Taste
$100-$200/month/box (depending on the subscription options you choose)
The folks at Crafted Taste have really got their A-game going with not one, not two but three different cocktail subscription boxes (which you can order for yourself or give as a gift to your favorite fellow bookish biddy). Their options include mixer-only kit, full kit with alcohol, premium alcohol upgrade kit. Prepare yourselves, though, they are pricy and the priciest cocktail subscription box service we found. However, their kits do include shipping (not always the case with some companies) and you do get full 750ml bottles of alcohol (not one of those little plane-sized bottles). They also include hard-to-find mixers and unique spirits you might not find elsewhere. In addition to the booze (if you select that option), you’ll receive modern cocktail recipes from top bartenders, full-sized unique mixers and ingredients, and the full kit and premium kit include full-sized hand-selected spirits. (Something else really cool that they offer is corporate branding for companies to show their appreciation to employees or customers. We like it.) You can subscribe for your Crafted Taste here.
There are certainly many more cocktail subscription box services out there. Do you have a favorite? We’d love to hear from you! Leave a comment in the comment section or contact us via our contact page.
